08/08/98 - "Promise Ain't Enough"-Hall & Oates

I was with a friend of mine and another girl.  We were going to a taping of Hall & Oates on Good Morning America.  I remember being upset that it had already aired (?) and I didn't know it was on and I missed recording it.  It had been mentioned on the discussion board, but I hadn't been attending lately, so I missed it.  Anyway, we went into the studio and grabbed some living room chairs and pushed them over to the wall at one side of the stage, right up front.  As we were arranging our chairs so we could see good, Daryl was on the stage with his guitar, like he was tuning it.  He turned to us and asked, "Any of you got a dime?" and my friend reached in her pocket and handed him one--he was going to use it as a pick.  So we all sat down and I said to my friend, "Nothing like being prepared, eh?!"  So as we were waiting I was looking at a Chicago program.  It showed all the members of the band and showed two female backup singers.  I thought to myself, "Hmmm, I don't remember any female backup singers...they must've been on one side of the drums, where I couldn't see them."  The program was also saying that Chicago was on H&O's label, PUSH Records.  I remember thinking, "OH!  So that's why they toured together!!"  So then Hall & Oates started playing, although I couldn't find John anywhere on the stage.  Daryl was singing "Promise Ain't Enough".
Then I was watching them backstage.  John had Aimee (his wife) and Tanner (his son) with him.   John was holding Tanner in front of him, and Aimee was in front of Tanner, and John was holding on to both of them.  It was really sweet.  At some other point, I remember seeing John stepping into coveralls (like a mechanic's) and Aimee was standing next to him, and they didn't say anything to each other. (I thought that was a little odd.)
Then I was with a 6-yr-old girl and I was telling her she had to take remedial reading, and she was really upset about it.  I kept talking to her and telling her it was no big deal, just that I knew she could do better and I wanted her to try.  She was afraid she would be looked down upon, and that she was "bad" or something, and I kept trying to reassure her, but she wasn't easily reassured.  Then Aimee came over and got her and took her into the next room.  I took some of her toys in there to her as Aimee was comforting her, holding her while sitting on this couch.

**Remember:  This is ONLY a DREAM!**
